Monday 16 May

The smell filled the air. I hated that smell, it was a symbol, a reminder of everything I had done. A tear rolled down my cheek as I saw her family gather around the coffin crying into it. She was loved just as I had been.
“Mindi!” Lindsay’s voice plunged into my dream.
I turned towards her the tears still rolling down my cheek.
“I don’t want to do this anymore.” I told her.
“You were born to do this. Your up to 103. The same amount that Jess has. As of tonight the institution is yours. I already checked watch system to. She’s coming here.”
I looked at Lindsay in shock. I was as much of a killer as Jess was.

Walking down those stairs felt like the longest one of my life. The glass felt thinner than normal as if I could crash straight through it. Sure enough Jess was lying motionless at the bottom. I waited for the smell to come but it didn’t.
“We’re lucky you know” I turned my head to Lindsay. Once again her voice had snuck up on me.
“Bodies of ...soul suckers are rare.”
I didn’t feel lucky, in fact I felt sick to my stomach, but I knew Lindsay was right. Most of us would love the opportunity to see another ones body.
I moved towards Jess. Her icy cold eyes were wide open. They glinted as they always had. Behind her the watch system was bringing up new data, stuff that no one had known about Jess. She was murdered 217 years ago when she was 23. She was engaged before she died. She had been walking back from work when she had been murdered. The watch system brought up more data this time pictures. It was Jess as I had never seen her before the frozen look in her eyes was gone and replaced by a warm glow. Instead of being pale and icy looking she looked beautiful and healthy. Instead of her hair hanging loose and dead on her shoulders it was long and shining. Everything about her looked more amazing and alive.
“It scares me to think that Jess was actually a person” Lindsay said
